Week 1

Self-Awareness
Session 1
Program Orientation & Introduction to Music Production
15-min SEL Lesson Β· Who Am I?
Self-Awareness
  • Check-in (3 min): Pick an emoji that shows how you feel walking into the studio today and share why.
  • Teach (5 min): Self-awareness means knowing your feelings, strengths and interests. Musicians use who they are to make music no one else can.
  • Activity (5 min): "Identity Playlist": write 3 songs that describe you and one word for each.
  • Reflect (2 min): Finish the sentence: "One thing I'm good at is…"
Session 2
Exploring Sounds & Creating Your First Beat
15-min SEL Lesson Β· My Strengths Sound Like…
Self-Awareness
  • Check-in (3 min): Thumbs up / sideways / down: how ready is your brain today?
  • Teach (5 min): Everyone has strengths (creative, kind, focused, funny). Strengths can grow with practice, just like beat-making skills.
  • Activity (5 min): Strength cards: pick 2 that fit you, then match each to a sound (kick = strong, hi-hat = quick).
  • Reflect (2 min): Which strength will you use while making your first beat today?
SEL focus
